Why Great Mentors Make the Difference in Private Aviation
Published: January 28, 2026
January is National Mentorship Month, and it's the perfect time to share what sets Jets.com apart: a supportive culture built on knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and unwavering excellence.
In the world of private aviation, there's no room for guesswork. With more than 1,500 active clients and 90% repeat business, expectations at Jets.com are high and every detail matters. That level of consistency doesn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of passionate aviation professionals passing their expertise to the next generation.
How Mentorship Works at Jets.com
After completing a four-week onboarding program focused on aircraft, aviation, and the company’s core offerings, every new Private Aviation Advisor at Jets.com is paired with a senior mentor, regardless of whether they are new to the industry or bring years of experience.
Mentors and mentees meet regularly, navigating real-world scenarios together: working through unpredictable logistics, refining client pitches, and comparing notes. Mentees gain not just an understanding of the role, but the standards, judgment, and care that define it.
“Empowering the next generation of aviation consultants is vitally important in this fast-paced industry," says John DePasquale, Vice President of Sales at Jets.com, who joined the firm in 2020 and today leads company-wide onboarding programs. "Our clients demand perfection and white-glove service that can only be provided by those with top-notch training and mentorship. Allowing our new recruits to learn directly from our most seasoned sales executives gives them real-world experience with live examples — helping them master the complexities and intricacies of our industry, as well as the high-end personal touches we provide to all of our Jets.com clientele.”
While each advisor works closely with their assigned mentor, they’re also encouraged to learn from others across the team. The goal is to help every person develop their own style, while building on a shared foundation of excellence and expertise.

The Foundation: Expertise That Shows
Jets.com has been operating since 2008. Today, the team spans 90+ professionals across the United States, and in 2025 alone, the company handled over 8,000 flights.
Behind every flight is the Mission Control team: passionate aviation specialists, over half of whom are trained pilots, who plan and monitor each journey with expert precision. From weather and aircraft readiness to flight restrictions and airport operations, they work in sync with advisors to ensure every detail is handled flawlessly.
That same standard of excellence shapes how Jets.com develops its advisors: the people on the front lines of the client experience.
The best mentorship creates independence and confidence. "What I hope they gain from the experience is a strong foundation; a clear understanding of what immense success looks like here, how to navigate customer expectations effectively, and how to communicate with confidence," says DePasquale. "More importantly, I want them to feel supported, that they have a trusted partner and company that they can turn to as they develop professionally."
The result is a team that takes genuine ownership of their work, and pride in the outcomes they deliver. It’s that sense of responsibility and care that keeps clients coming back, flight after flight.
A Culture Worth Staying For
What keeps experienced professionals invested in mentoring others?
“The strongest teams win when knowledge, momentum, and ownership are shared—not when success is individual,” adds DePasquale. “When people around you are growing, contributing at a higher level, and feeling proud of what they’re producing, the entire organization gets stronger.”
This is how Jets.com builds advisors who are not only experts, but trusted partners to their clients.
